Supplementary exams end without glitches

Pretoria - The National Senior Certificate (NSC) supplementary examinations has been concluded without any serious irregularity or incident, the Department of Basic Education said.

"The supplementary examinations arising from the NSC Grade 12 examinations in 2010 came to an end yesterday [Thursday]. The department is very pleased with how the examinations have been conducted in all of the provinces," said department spokesperson Granville Whittle.

A total of 101 078 candidates registered to write the supplementary examinations, which started on 14 February 2011, with a total of 115 papers written in 1 156 examination centres across the country.

Whittle said marking in the inland provinces will commence on 28 March 2011 and on 2 April 2011 in the coastal provinces. 

"It is expected that the administration of the examinations will be finalised by the end of April and all learners will be able to collect their results from schools on 3 May 2011," he said.
