Wednesday, September 16, 2015

Pretoria – Eyewitnesses or anyone who might have information regarding a petrol bomb attack on an Intercape bus in Strand, near Cape Town, have been urged to come forward.

The bus was petrol bombed on Tuesday night, claiming the lives of two passengers and leaving 34 injured.

The Western Cape Provincial Government has condemned all acts of violence in the strongest possible terms.

“The bus was completely gutted. At this stage, the motive is unknown … The perpetrators of this violent crime must face the full might of the law. We will support all efforts to bring these criminals to book,” said the provincial government.

It said such acts undermine the provision of reliable public transport and threaten the safety of commuters.

“We send our condolences to the family and friends of those who lost their lives in the attack, and we wish the injured a speedy recovery.

“We urge eyewitnesses and anyone else who may be able to assist the police to come forward. Anyone with information that could lead to these criminals being arrested should contact their nearest police station as soon as possible,” said the provincial government. - SAnews.gov.za
