Pretoria - Piotrans, the Rea Vaya operating company, will be meeting with its striking bus drivers this morning in an attempt to end the week-long illegal strike that has so far inconvenienced about 35 000 commuters.

Piotrans spokesperson Eric Motswane told BuaNews the Rea Vaya services were still not available between Soweto and Johannesburg CBD and the surrounding areas on Friday.

"Our buses are not operating this morning but as a management, we will be meeting the striking workers and their union leaders this morning to seek a lasting solution, which will bring an end this strike," he said.

Rea Vaya bus drivers embarked on an illegal strike on Monday, protesting against the proposed new shift roster.

The striking bus drivers are also ignoring the Labour Court interdict granted on Tuesday, which requires them to return to work.
