Pretoria - The Minister of Sport and Recreation, Makhenkesi Stofile, is expected to hold a media briefing today to explain the gender verification test results of Caster Semenya.

Certain international media have claimed that the gender tests conducted by the International Associations of Athletics Federation (IAAF) during the World Athletics Championships in Berlin last month, have been released and show that she is a hermaphrodite.

General Manager of Athletics South Africa (ASA), Molatelo Malehopo has denied these claims, calling them rumours.

"To us these are rumours and we don't want to get involved in spreading rumours," Malehopo told BuaNews.

IAAF announced that Caster would undergo tests to verify her gender after certain doubts were raised. This sparked an outcry in South Africa, including President Jacob Zuma
