Pretoria – The Limpopo Department of Education says a number of subjects to be written by Grade 10 and 11 learners who are sitting for their final examinations have been rescheduled to lessen the workload.

The department said on Tuesday the English first additional language paper 1 for Grade 11 learners, which was due to be written today, has been rescheduled for Friday.

The rest of the subjects set for the Tuesday morning session will now be written in the afternoon.

“Also, the subjects scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday for both Grade 10 and 11 have been postponed and an assessment instruction will be sent to all schools today,” said the department.

The department’s Communications Director Naledzani Rasila told SAnews the decision to postpone the examinations for some of the subjects was taken by the department to reduce the workload on learners.

“We want the examinations to continue running smoothly. New available dates for postponed examinations will be sent out to schools today,” said Rasila.

Grade 10 and 11 examinations in the province commenced on Monday and they have otherwise proceeded smoothly as scheduled, without any untoward incidents and disruptions.

“… the Grade 12 examinations which started last week entered the second week and all is running smoothly,” said the department.

The department urged parents to support learners during the examination period and wished all learners good luck in their examinations. - SAnews.gov.za
