SIU to probe Public Service Sector Education and Training

President Jacob Zuma has signed a proclamation authorising the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) to investigate certain matters regarding the Public Service Sector Education and Training (PSETA).

The proclamation was signed in terms of section 2 (2) of the Special Investigating Unit and Special Tribunals Act, 1996.

The proclamation authorises the SIU to investigate the following allegations: 

  • Serious maladministration in connection with the affairs of the PSETA;
  • Improper and unlawful conduct by employees or officials of the PSETA;
  • Unlawful appropriation or expenditure of public money or property;
  • Unlawful, irregular and unapproved acquisitive act, transaction, measure or practice having a bearing upon State property;
  • Intentional or negligent loss of public money, and
  • Unlawful or improper conduct by any person, which has caused or may cause serious harm to the interests of the public or any category thereof. – SAnews.gov.za
