Pretoria - Three men convicted of killing missing Ekurhuleni councillor Godfrey Mbethe will know their fate when their sentences are read out to them at the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria on Tuesday.

On Monday, the court found guilty Vusimuzi Landford Twala, 36, Simphiwe Dennis Zwane, 50, and Christopher Mbatha, 37, on five counts of murder, robbery with aggravating circumstance, kidnapping, theft and fraud.

Mbethe, 43, went missing after withdrawing R7 000 from his account at a bank in Benoni on the morning of 22 July 2009.

Since his disappearance, a search was initiated but Mbethe was never found and he is still missing.

Speaker of Council at Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality, Patricia Kumalo - who has been following the case very closely - will also attend the sentencing today.
