SASSA gets new acting CEO

Wednesday, July 19, 2017

Social Development Minister Bathabile Dlamini has announced that Pearl Bhengu, who has been serving as the South African Social Security Agency’s (SASSA) Regional Manager in KwaZulu-Natal since 2012, will be the new interim CEO of the Agency.

On Wednesday, Minister Dlamini met with the staff and made the announcement.

This follows a mutual agreement reached between Minister Dlamini and the former CEO Thokozani Magwaza to end his contract of employment.

The Minister said the first priority of the acting CEO is to stabilise the Agency and to ensure that it focuses on its Constitutional mandate of administering and paying social grants in line with the SASSA Act. –
