SADC summit gets underway in Zimbabwe

Pretoria - Leaders from the Southern African Development Community (SADC) are meeting this morning in Zimbabwe for their Extraordinary Summit.

The summit will deliberate on the SADC Industrialisation Strategy and Implementation Plan as decided by the 34th SADC Ordinary Summit held in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, which seeks to engender major economic and technological transformation at national and regional level.

In addition, the strategy aims to accelerate the growth momentum and enhance the comparative and competitive advantages of the economies of the SADC sub-region.

The summit was preceded by an extraordinary meeting of the SADC Council of Ministers on Monday.

President Jacob Zuma, who is leading the South African delegation, is also in attendance. – SAnews.gov.za
