R2 million cocaine bust

Pretoria - A woman trying to smuggle 100 cocaine cigar tubes worth R2 million was arrested at OR Tambo International Airport on Sunday, said the South African Revenue Service (SARS).

“SARS customs officials intercepted a Venezuelan female trying to smuggle 100 cocaine cigar tubes, weighing almost 8kg and worth R2.0 million, at OR Tambo International Airport yesterday,” said the revenue service on Monday.

The woman, who was travelling from Brazil, was stopped and searched.

“She has been handed over to the South African Police Service for further investigations and prosecution and will appear in court by tomorrow,” said SARS. – SAnews.gov.za
