Pretoria – President Jacob Zuma has declared a special Provincial Official Funeral for Caroline Motsoaledi, the Presidency announced on Tuesday.
Motsoaledi, who died in hospital on Tuesday, was the wife of Rivonia treason trialist Elias Motsoaledi and an activist in her own right.
“The President has directed that the national flag should be flown at halfmast at all stations in the Gauteng province on the day of her funeral, 3 January 2014,” said the Presidency.
Minister in the Presidency responsible for women, Susan Shabangu, will deliver the eulogy at the funeral.
The Gauteng Provincial Government will provide the details of the funeral service.
The Presidency described Motsoaledi as a veteran of the struggle for liberation who remained steadfast in her convictions and commitment to a free and just South Africa even in the face of persecution when her husband was on Robben Island. – SAnews.gov.za
