Pretoria - Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa has extended condolences to the family of the late Warrant Officer Muzwandile Joel Sithole.
Warrant Office Sithole was a member of the Presidential Protection Services of the South African Police Service (SAPS).
He passed away in Juba, South Sudan on Friday.
According to the Presidency, Warrant Officer Sithole passed away after a sudden illness in the South Sudan capital, where he was part of a team preparing for the Deputy President’s working visit.
Deputy President Ramaphosa is expected to undertake a working visit to the country on Monday, where he will hold discussions with President Salva Kiir and Vice-President Riek Machar.
He will visit South Sudan in his capacity as Special Envoy of President Jacob Zuma to the country.
"Warrant Officer Sithole served the South African Police Service with distinction in a very important and valued role. Our thoughts and prayers are with the widow, Sibongile Sithole, the Sithole family, friends and colleagues,” said Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa.
He said the South African government is working together with the South Sudanese government to ensure that the mortal remains of Warrant Officer Sithole are repatriated to South Africa where he will be laid to rest. - SAnews.gov.za
