President Zuma to visit Limpopo

Thursday, April 7, 2011

Pretoria - President Jacob Zuma is due to receive a report back on social investment projects in Limpopo this morning.

According to the Presidency, Zuma will attend a community report back session in Mogalakwena Corporate Social Investment Projects in Mokopane, Limpopo. The session will be held at the Cornelius Masebe Primary School in Armoede.

This follows his initial visit to the area in 2008 and 2009 where he listened to concerns raised by that community regarding their participation in mining activities in the area.

Following the visit a government task team was then set up to work with Anglo Platinum to find lasting solutions to the concerns. Anglo Platinum has since agreed to implement a further broad-based black economic empowerment transaction to that effect.

"The transaction will invariably benefit communities which are located in the area next to the mining operations, labour-contributing areas as well as certain poverty nodes," said the Presidency. - BuaNews
