Pretoria – After the formal ceremony at the Nelson Mandela Amphitheatre, President Jacob Zuma proceeded to the Southern Lawns to greet and thank all those who had gathered to witness the occasion.

He thanked the more than 20 000-strong crowd for casting their votes during the General Elections two weeks ago, and assured them that government would work hard to deliver on its promises, over the next five years.

He said government would also work towards changing the lives of South Africans for the better.

However, he warned that those government officials failing to do their work will be removed from their positions.

“As government we are determined to do what we have promised to do. This is your government and we urge everybody to work with us. If we are together - we are stronger to deliver on what we have promised,” he said.

President Zuma will host a luncheon for invited guests at the Sefako Makgatho Presidential Guest House, while a cultural programme will take over at the Southern Lawns.

Artists including the likes of the Mzansi Youth Choir, Bothlale Boikanyo, Zahara, Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Matthew Mole and many more will take to the stage. – SAnews.gov.za
