Pretoria - President Jacob Zuma has conveyed his condolences to the family of former Kaizer Chiefs player-turned television presenter Isaac “Shakes” Kungwane.

"On behalf of government and the people of South Africa, I wish to convey my sincere condolences to the family, friends and the soccer fraternity for this untimely loss. May his soul rest in peace," said President Zuma on Thursday.

Kungwane, 43, died on Wednesday, after being admitted to hospital.

Born and bred in Alexandra, north of Johannesburg, Kungwane was a favourite among the fans and those in the football fraternity.

“The former Kaizer Chiefs, Manning Rangers and Bafana Bafana midfield wizard and witty SuperSport soccer analyst was regarded as one of South Africa's greatest ball passers,” President Zuma said. – SAnews.gov.za
