President Zuma extends condolences to soldiers' families

Pretoria - President Jacob Zuma, the Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces, has extended his deepest condolences to the families of the 11 soldiers who died in a road crash in the Free State on Friday.

"The nation is saddened by this horrific loss of so many members of our Defence Force, who lost their lives on duty. They had dedicated their lives to the defence of our country and its people. It is really tragic for them to lose their lives in this manner.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families at this difficult and painful time. We wish the injured a speedy recovery," said President Zuma.

Eleven members of the South African National Defence Force were reportedly killed when the bus they were commuting in rolled down an embankment off the R712 in Golden Gate. – SAnews.gov.za
