President Zuma appoints new Con Court judge

Pretoria- President Jacob Zuma has appointed Justice Nonkosi Zoliswa Mhlantla as a judge of the Constitutional Court with effect from 01 December 2015, to fill an existing vacancy.

The Presidency on Monday said President Zuma executed the appointment of Justice Mhlantla, who is currently a judge of the Supreme Court of Appeal, in terms of section 174 (4) of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, 1996.

He has done this, the Presidency said, after consultation with Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng and leaders of the parties represented in the National Assembly.

“Justice Mhlantla will be filling a vacant position in the Constitutional Court which arose from the discharge from active service of the late Justice Skweyiya.

“President Zuma wishes Justice Mhlantla all the best in her new responsibilities,” said the Presidency.-SAnews.gov.za
