Pretoria - President Jacob Zuma has conveyed his condolences to the family and members of the academic and literary communities following the passing of Afrikaans author and poet, Professor Andre Brink.
"We have learned with sadness of the passing of this remarkable and highly regarded scholar and academic.
“I wish to convey our heartfelt condolences to his family and members of the academic and literary communities. May his soul rest in peace," said President Zuma on Saturday.
Brink passed away on Friday at the age of 79 when he was returning from Belgium after receiving an honorary doctorate.
At the time of his death he was a literature professor at the University of Cape Town. – SAnews.go.za
