Pretoria – The delivery of basic services in Bushbuckridge in Mpumalanga will come under the spotlight today when President Jacob Zuma visits the area as part of the Presidential Siyahlola Monitoring Programme.

His visit, aimed at monitoring the delivery of water and sanitation as well as other basic services, follows an appeal by the community for government to intervene in addressing service delivery challenges.

The residents face challenges with regards to water and sanitation, housing, roads, electricity as well as refuse removal.

“The President will visit service delivery sites to monitor the work that has been done thus far and also determine what else more needs to be done to address the service delivery challenges faced by the people Bushbuckridge and surrounding areas.

“The President will inspect progress made by the Department of Water and Sanitation and its water utility Rand Water in alleviating water shortages in the short and long term,” said the Presidency.

President Zuma is expected to visit the Inyaka Water Treatment Works in Mandela Village before touring households in the Blakfesi Village to monitor the end product of the Inyaka Water Treatment Works.

Accompanied by Cabinet ministers the President will then interact with community members at Thulamahashe Stadium.
