President extends condolences to Swaminarayan community

Pretoria - President Jacob Zuma has extended condolences on the passing of the spiritual head of the Swaminarayan Hindu faith community in India, His Divine Holiness, Pramukh Swami Maharaj, says the Presidency.

“His Divine Holiness exemplified true spiritual leadership, deepest commitment to simplicity, and to orienting the mindset of the people, particularly the young, towards highest virtues of piety, holiness and compassion for all.

“We extend our deepest condolences to the Swaminarayan community. His life demonstrated the power of love and peace in making this world a better place, and will remain an abiding inspiration to all. May his soul rest in Peace,” said President Zuma.

The Presidency said Swami Maharaj is renowned for the great contribution he made to Indian spirituality and culture by building temples, mandirs and educational institutions both in India and other countries. - SAnews.gov.za
