Pretoria - President Jacob Zuma is deeply saddened by the passing away of the struggle stalwart Ayesha (Bibi) Dawood at the weekend.
Dawood was a great South African and recipient of the National Order of Luthuli.
Dawood rose to prominence as a struggle activist in Worcester, in the Western Cape, and was one of the leaders charged in the 1956 Treason Trial.
"We have lost a committed activist and veteran of our struggle for freedom.
“On behalf of myself, the government and the people of South Africa, I wish to convey our heartfelt condolences to her children, grandchildren and other members of her family. May her soul rest in peace," said President Zuma. – SAnews.gov.za
