Pretoria – Former Brand South Africa Chairperson Anitha Soni played a meaningful role in promoting the country locally and abroad, said President Jacob Zuma.
“She loved her country and was always ready to perform any task aimed at promoting investments, growth and job creation. She is gone too soon,” President Zuma said on Sunday.
Soni, who served Brand South Africa from 2009 till 2012, passed on this weekend.
“We extend our deepest condolences to Adv Vas Soni and the whole family during this difficult and painful time,’’ he said.
Advocate Soni resigned from his post as head of the Special Investigating Unit in February to provide support and spend more time with his wife and children.
Brand South Africa also expressed sadness at the passing away of Soni.
“Today South Africa has lost a passionate and committed Brand Ambassador. Soni was a patriot in the true sense of the word, she used her innate skills and ability to serve our country,” Brand SA Chairperson Chichi Maponya said.
Maponya said under her leadership as Chair of the Board, Soni led the rebranding of the then-International Marketing Council (IMC) to Brand South Africa.
“It was also during her tenure that Brand South Africa began to focus on the domestic market as well as the international,” Maponya said.
She expressed the organisation’s appreciation for Soni’s role in branding South Africa as a country that inspires new ways. – SAnews.gov.za
