Pretoria – Western Cape Premier Helen Zille and her MECs were sworn in into office this morning.
Western Cape High Court Deputy Judge President Jeanette Traverso presided over the ceremony.
This will be Zille’s second term as Premier of the Western Cape.
The new cabinet comprises eight MECs from the last term in office, and two vacancies came after the departure of Agriculture MEC Gerrit van Rensburg to the National Assembly, and Transport and Public Works MEC Robin Carlisle, retired.
The two newcomers to Premier Zille’s Cabinet are Nomafrench Mbombo, MEC for Cultural Affairs and Sport, and Debbie Schafer, MEC for Education.
Premier Zille announced a new combined portfolio -- agriculture, economic development and tourism.
