Pretoria – The SA Post Office has been endorsed as upholding international standards in its service to its customers.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Post Office announced that it received a certificate of compliance with the International Organisation for Standardization (ISO) standard for Quality Management System from the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS).

The Post Office said subjecting itself to international norms was part of its quest to improve its efficiency guided by its turnaround strategy and performance standards.

The Post Office’s GCEO, Christopher Hlekane, said: “Quality management systems have become an integral part of our company’s plans to achieve sustained world-class service standards for our customers in respect of on-time delivery, quality, efficiency and effectiveness.”

He said that the certification was amongst a list of competitive edges that the post office has identified for itself in the quest to adjust its services delivery model to adapt to customers’ needs and the changes in the postal business environment.

“The significance of this certification is that the SA Post Office will have to adhere to continuous quality improvement in its mail business as a result of the SABS surveillances, a factor that will benefit our customers downstream.

“Customer needs keep evolving due to technological changes; therefore service providers are forced to keep in step with the changes.” – SAnews.gov.za
