Pretoria - In a joint operation, police discovered an apparent drug laboratory in Fourways and seized narcotics with an estimated street value of R2.5 million.

The joint intervention by the National Intervention Unit (NIU) of Pretoria and Crime Intelligence (CI) members carried out the operation on Monday, says SAPS spokesperson Lieutenant General Solomon Makgale.

Drugs seized include crystal methamphetamine, heroin, cocaine and 25 bags of salt and isotone.

Two 9mm glocks; 70 x 9mm rounds and three 9mm magazines were also found, says Makgale.

“This operation is a perfect example of the good working relationship existing between the various police units of the South African Police Service. It is also testimony to the trust that communities have in the SAPS to follow up on information on criminal activities within their neighbourhoods,” said Makgale.

He says two men have been taken into custody for possession of drugs and the unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.  – SAnews.gov.za
