Pretoria – Orca, PetroSA’s floating production, storage and offloading facility, is to be docked at the Port of Ngqura for maintenance and refurbishments.

PetroSA has, through the platform that is stationed off South Africa’s South Coast, will be towed to the harbour upon its arrival at Port Ngqura next week.

PetroSA’s group chief executive, Nosiswe Nokwe-Macamo, said all safety procedures will be followed while the Orca is at the harbour, and added that no oil will be on board except for diesel fuel that will be used to run generators.

“We were able to produce 46 million barrels of crude while the Orca was in operation at the Oribi/ Oryx oilfields. The facility has served Petro SA well over the years.

“While docked at the Port of Ngqura we will ensure that it complies with all environmental legislation,” she said. – SAnews.gov.za
