Petrol price set to increase

Sunday, August 4, 2013

Pretoria – The petrol price is expected to increase by 32 cents a litre, the Department of Energy said on Friday.

The fuel price adjustments will be effected on Wednesday, 7 August.

Motorists will now pay R13.55 a litre inland and R13.18 at the coast. The wholesale price of diesel will rise by 32.96 cents to R12.48.

The Energy Department said the increase in the price of all grades of petrol and diesel as well as paraffin and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) was due to the rise in the price of crude oil, which in turn led to the rise in the prices of international petroleum products.

“The modest appreciation in the Rand/US dollar exchange could not compensate for the increase in the price of crude oil, as a result the impact on the final prices of petroleum products is minimal,” said the department. – SAnews.gov.za
