Partly cloudy skies are expected for the Mother City as it awaits the delivery of the State of the Nation Address (SONA) under the leadership of a new President.
“Cape Town will be mostly partly cloudy skies but warm during the day with clear skies expected in the evening. We are expecting a low of 19°C reaching a high of 26°C,” said South African Weather Service forecaster Kgolofelo Mahlangu.
Mahlangu said while light rain can be expected along the Western Cape coastline, Cape Town will remain dry with no prospects of much needed rain in the drought stricken metropolitan.
Media have already set up makeshift studios in the Parliamentary precinct to capture the day’s proceedings.
“We are expecting a low of 19°C reaching a high of 26°C,” said Mahlangu.
The SONA traditionally marks the official opening of Parliament. However, due to the postponement of SONA, which was initially set down for 8 February 2018, Parliament opened its doors on 5 February 2018 and continued with its duties.
The address is delivered to a joint sitting of the two Houses of Parliament and watched live by millions of South Africans on television, radio and social media. – SAnews.gov.za
