Pretoria – Parliament says it respects the ruling handed down by the Constitutional Court in the matter brought by the Economic Freedom Fighters and Democratic Alliance relating to the findings by the Public Protector on President Jacob Zuma’s homestead, Nkandla.
“Parliament will be reading the judgment. The institution respects the order of the court and will abide accordingly,” said Parliament in a statement on Thursday, shortly after the judgment was handed down.
President Zuma has meanwhile said he will reflect on the judgment and its implications on the state and government, and will in consultation with other impacted institutions of state determine the appropriate action.
He said he appreciates and reaffirms the powers of the Constitutional Court as a final arbiter on matters of the Constitution in the Republic of South Africa. – SAnews.gov.za
