Parliament to assess progress at Ncera Farms

Tuesday, November 27, 2012

Pretoria - Parliament's Portfolio Committee on Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries is to revisit Ncera Farms in the Eastern Cape on Tuesday.

"As the committee we promised during our last meeting with the management of the entity that it would be better to visit the area once again to see for ourselves if all the issues we raised were addressed," Committee Chairperson Lulu Johnson said on Monday.

Appearing along with five other entities in October, management of the public company could not brief the committee on the highlights of their 2011/12 annual report.

The committee expressed concern about the entity's progress report which did not reflect whether the issues previously raised in the company's turnaround strategy were addressed.

The committee will also meet with the Provincial Standing Committee on Agriculture and the management of Fort Cox College of Agriculture to discuss the training and accreditation for Ncera Farms and the possible lifting of the decree from the college issued by Brigadier Oupa Gqozo in 1992, among others. -SAnews.gov.za
