NYDA to embark on road shows

Pretoria - The National Youth Development Agency is to embark on countrywide provincial road-shows towards the establishment of NYDA provincial offices.

The agency's chairperson Andile Lungisa said the road-shows were part of the processes of popularising the NYDA and outlining its eight key performance areas that include economic participation, education and skills development.

The NYDA was established in June, following a merger between the National Youth Commission and the Umsobomvu Youth Fund.

Lungisa said since the merger, a number of provinces have moved to repeal the Acts that established the Provincial Youth Commission (PYCs).

"It will not be an ideal situation to create a vacuum at that level, provinces are an important tier of the structure of government, so we also want to move with speed in closing that gap," he said.

The road shows will kick-off in the Eastern Cape on Thursday.
