North West warns public against tender fraudsters

Pretoria - The North West provincial government has warned the public against individuals who approach them with fraudulent “tender award letters”.

The letters, said the provincial government, are used to borrow money for the supposed delivery of tender project conditions. The money lenders are offered a share once the tendered project is completed and paid for by government.

The provincial government said it was concerned that the fraudsters claim to have obtained the tenders from the provincial government, and through the influence of Premier Supra Mahumapelo.

These fraudsters are said to be prevalent mostly in the Matlosana and Mahikeng areas.

The provincial government reiterated that Premier and members of the Executive Council are by virtue of them occupying the political seats, not allowed by law to have any influence on who get the tenders as they are not members of the provincial tender adjudication committees.

“Members of the public are cautioned against these fraudsters who take advantage of residents’ financial standing, while at the same time denting the image of the provincial government and that of the Premier,” said the provincial government.

The provincial government urged the public to report such incidents to the police.-SAnews.gov.za
