North West Premier explores opportunities in China

Pretoria – North West Premier Supra Mahumapelo has on Sunday jetted off to China to explore further investment opportunities and confirm the provincial government’s commitment to various proposed deals.

Among the issues to be discussed during the Premier’s engagement with potential investors from Beijing and Shanghai, include the establishment of a bus manufacturing plant in the province as well as the establishment of donkey breeding farms for the export of donkey hide and meat to China.

Accompanied by MEC for Rural, Environment and Agricultural Development Manketsi Tlhape, MEC for Finance, Economy and Enterprise Development Wendy Nelson and experts in the field of agriculture, Premier Mahumapelo is also expected to lead discussions on proposed deals for the construction of buildings and improvement of Information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure.

As part of the week-long programme the Premier and his delegation will visit a donkey farm and attend a Huawei Exhibition in Shanghai, before meeting with various companies.

The Office of the Premier said the second official trip to China is part of strengthening the existing trade and investment relations with BRICS countries and serve as a great platform for the province to learn best practices in dealing with housing challenges and ICT issues, among others.

MEC for Education and Sport Development Sello Lehari is appointed to act as Premier for the duration of Premier Mahumapelo’s visit to China. – SAnews.gov.za
