Pretoria - The North West Provincial Government is to host four public viewing areas across the province for the memorial service for the late former President Nelson Mandela to be held on Tuesday.
The public viewing areas are arranged to afford the public an opportunity to converge for a celebration of the life of South Africa’s first democratically elected President, while they follow the proceedings at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg.
Premier Thandi Modise has urged members of the public to use the public viewing areas. This is in a bid to minimise congestion on public roads to Johannesburg.
In Ngaka Modiri Molema District, the public viewing area will be at the University of the North West Mahikeng Campus Great Hall, Dr. Kenneth Kaunda District at the Matlosana Municipality Auditorium, Dr. Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District at Mmabana Taung and Bojanala Platinum District at Ben Marais Hall in Rustenburg.
The big screen viewings will start at 10am.
Modise said Madiba was remembered for his humility and selflessness.
At a provincial prayer service at the Matlosana Municipality Auditorium on Sunday, the premier said he mirrored the hopes and dreams of all South Africans and will forever be remembered as the greatest freedom fighter, a unifier, nation builder and father of our nation whose legacy of selfless service all of us have a responsibility to advance. – SAnews.gov.za
