North West to build R80m farm school

Wednesday, December 4, 2013

Pretoria – North West Premier Thandi Modise has conducted a sod-turning ceremony for the construction of an R80-million mega farm school in Lykso, near Vryburg.

Modise said the move was part of the broader strategy by government to give farm learners access to quality education by building the school.

“Government has made a commitment to ensure that all learners receive quality education in a conducive learning environment.

“Education is one of the key priorities that government has identified for the next few years,” Modise said.

Together with the creation of decent work and sustainable livelihoods, health care, rural development, food security and land reform, and the fight against crime and corruption, education remains top on the list of priorities of government.

The mega school will have hostel facilities and all the necessary amenities needed for conducive teaching and learning.

Modise was accompanied by North West MEC for Education, Mmaphefo Matsemela, and the Greater Taung Local Municipality mayor Kaone Lebelo. – SAnews.gov.za
