Pretoria - The Gauteng Health Department has advised NGOs whose payments are not reflecting in their bank accounts to call the department's contact centre.

This follows the release of R63 million by the department to 818 NGOs on Thursday in an effort to reduce accruals.

Provincial Health MEC Ntombi Mekgwe has urged NGOs who are awaiting payments from the department to confirm if the funds reflect in their bank accounts.

Those whose payments are not reflecting must call 011 355 2222/7633/7650/7636/7633.

Mekgwe said the NGOs were important partners in service delivery and the department was committed to ensuring that they did not experience obstacles in their endeavors to assist in the care for the vulnerable members of society.

"The success of this payment underlines the seriousness with which the department regards the commitment it has made to honour all its obligations," Mekgwe said.

In the past two weeks, the department has made significant progress in settling outstanding payments to all service providers, with R874 million recently paid to suppliers contracted to the medical depot which provides the department with medical and surgical items.

"We would like to reiterate that the department is fully aware and committed to meeting all its past and future obligations to suppliers," added Mekgwe.
