New CEO appointed to NERSA

Pretoria - Phindile Nzimande has been appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Full-Time Regulator Member primarily responsible for the administration of the National Energy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA).

NERSA said in a statement this morning that Cabinet had approved the appointment of Nzimande and that she will assume her duties on 1 May 2011. 

Nomalanga Sithole, who is currently the Executive Manager for Corporate Services, will act until the appointment becomes effective to continue administrative responsibilities.

Cabinet also approved the appointment of Thembani Bukula as Full-Time Regulator Member primarily responsible for electricity industry regulation; Ethel Teljeur as Full-Time Regulator Member primarily responsible for piped-gas industry regulation and Rod Crompton as Full-Time Regulator Member primarily responsible for petroleum pipelines industry regulation.

These appointments are for a period of five years and are effective from 1 April 2011, said the regulator. - BuaNews
