Nelson Mandela Bay appoints acting municipal manager

Port Elizabeth - The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality has adopted a resolution appointing Elias Ntoba as acting municipal manager.

A practicing lawyer and former municipal manager, Mr Ntoba has a masters degree in law and is currently studying towards his doctorate, according to municipal spokesperson Kupido Baron.

His appointment was made to restore stability in the municipality after municipal manager, Advocate Graham Richards, agreed to take special leave to allow allegations of misconduct and poor performance against him to be fully investigated.

His special leave will end on 10 September.

Executive Mayor Nondumiso Maphazi proposed the appointment of Mr Ntoba which was accepted by the majority of council members.
