N-Cape farm workers in the spotlight

Pretoria - The troubles of farm workers and dwellers will be in the spotlight at a two-day Farm Workers Summit which kicks-off this morning in the Northern Cape.

The provincial summit, themed "Towards a better life for vulnerable worker", will be attended by agricultural stakeholders and will discuss ways in which the farming community can work together to improve the living conditions of farm workers and dwellers.

The gathering will also further assess the progress made since the 2008 Farm Workers Summit.

Northern Cape MEC for Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development, Norman Shushu, will officiate at the summit which will end on Friday.

The Provincial Summit will lead to the National Farm Workers Summit to be convened towards the end May in the Western Cape
