Motlanthe visits Beijing

Pretoria - Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe is in Beijing, where he is leading the South African delegation to the 5th South Africa-China Bi-National Commission (BNC).

The BNC, scheduled for October 28 – 29, will be co-chaired by Motlanthe and the Chinese Vice President, Li Yuanchao.

It will be preceded by the Strategic Dialogue Mechanism, which comprises sectoral committees on foreign affairs, economic and trade, science and technology, education, energy and minerals.

This year’s BNC will review progress made on the implementation of previous BNC decisions.

The BNC will discuss, among others, regional and global geopolitical issues.

The two countries will sign bilateral agreements promoting cooperation in the areas of human resources development and tourism.

The South African delegation will also include the following officials: Ministers of Public Service and Administration, Lindiwe Sisulu; Tourism, Marthinus van Schalkwyk; Mineral Resources, Suzan Shabangu; and the Deputy Ministers of International Relations and Cooperation, Ebrahim Ebrahim; Energy, Barbara Thomson; Trade and Industry, Thandi Tobias-Pokolo; and Public Enterprises, Bulelani Mangwanishe. – SAnews.gov.za
