Motlanthe leads anti-poverty indaba

Pretoria - Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe is to lead a two-day anti-poverty roundtable discussion beginning today.

The talks form part of a series of consultations to obtain input from different stakeholders, including government, civil society, labour and business on the National Anti-Poverty Strategy.

Motlanthe, who is government's anti-poverty campaign champion, will lead the roundtable, which is expected to include presentations by Minister of Rural Development and Land Affairs Gugile Nkwinti and Minister of Public Works Geoff Doidge.

Delegates will also receive a briefing by a Civil Society Task Team.

The roundtable is themed "Renewing the Pledge: Working Together with Social Partners to Fight Poverty".
