Modern Home Affairs office to be opened in Postmasburg

Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Fatima Chohan, will on Monday officially open a modernised Home Affairs office in Postmasburg, in the Northern Cape to provide more channels for citizens to acquire identity documents (ID) and access other public services.

The Postmasburg Home Affairs Office is now fully equipped to issue the high-tech Smart ID cards and machine-readable passports.

The department said the office has been designed to ensure an improved workflow process and enable the provision of quality services faster, better and smarter.

Modernising offices is part of the department’s Moetapele “Leadership” Initiative and includes front office improvement, standardising operations across offices, providing a pleasurable environment for clients and professionalising Home Affairs and its staff.

The Deputy Minister will on also distribute smart ID cards to some of the clients who will be at the office.

She will also hold an imbizo with stakeholders at the Postmasburg Sports Ground to emphasise the importance of people collecting their ID cards ahead of the elections on 8 May 2019. – SAnews.gov.za
