Ministerial team to visit Balfour community

Balfour - President Jacob Zuma has sent a top government delegation to visit the community of Balfour to deal with the issues of poor service delivery in the area.

The delegation of ministers, led by Minister in the Presidency responsible for Performance Monitoring and Evaluation, Collins Chabane will this afternoon hold consultative meetings with members of the Dipaleseng Municipality and community structures.

The meeting is part of a follow up to the surprise visit undertaken by President Jacob Zuma to the Balfour informal settlement in Siyathemba.

On 4 August, President Zuma paid a surprise visit to the Siyathemba settlement to get a first-hand understanding of the living conditions of community members.

During the visit, the President listened to the concerns raised by residents relating to inadequate or the lack of service delivery in areas of health, education, home affairs and social development, among other things.

He promised the community that he would send ministers to deal with the issues raised. A team of ministers have been meeting to deal with the issues and to work out mechanisms of bringing services to the area.

The President has said that he would be paying surprise visits to other areas in the country.
