Minister Pandor to speak at WISE

Pretoria - Minister of Home Affairs, Naledi Pandor, is expected to deliver a paper under the theme "Collaborating for Change" at the fourth World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE) in Doha, Qatar.

WISE, which takes place on Monday and Tuesday, provides a global platform for debate and action in the field of education.

It brings together over 1000 thought leaders, decision makers and practitioners from a variety of sectors, including education, business, politics, civil society, and the media.

"In its three years since its launch, WISE has won international recognition for its promotion for innovative practices and for its growing list of collaborative projects which are improving the lives of many people through education," the Department of Home Affairs said in a statement.

Minister Pandor is part of the WISE Prize for Education Jury, composed of five internationally-known individuals who have achieved a high level of distinction in their fields.

The other four members are Dr James H. Billington - Librarian of Congress, USA; Prof. Jeffrey D. Sachs - Director of The Earth Institute, Quetelet Professor of Sustainable Development, Columbia University, USA; Fatma Rafiq Zakaria - Chairman of the Maulana Azad Educational Trust, India and H.E. Sheikh Abdulla bin Ali Al-Thani, PhD - Chairman of WISE, Qatar Foundation, Chairman and members of the Jury. - SAnews.gov.za
