Minister Nhleko ‘not the character in Moseneke’s book’

Pretoria - Police Minister Nkosinathi Nhleko has distanced himself from the person and incidents contained in the book by former Deputy Chief Justice Dikgang Moseneke.

In his recently published memoirs, My Own Liberator, Moseneke, mentions a certain young activist, Nkosinathi Nhleko, who led the necklacing of a 78-year-old resident and traditional healer in Queenstown in the Eastern Cape.

Minister Nhleko shares both a first and last name with the person mentioned in the book, creating the impression in some readers’ minds that he is the person in question.

“I would like to place it on record that I have never murdered anyone nor have I been convicted of murder [and I have never] lived in Queenstown. I am definitely not the person Judge Moseneke writes about,” the Minister said on Thursday. – SAnews.gov.za
