Minister Muthambi to engage eThekwini communities

Pretoria - In her pursuit to see improved service delivery to all citizens, more especially in rural communities, Public Service and Administration Minister Faith Muthambi will today meet communities of eThekwini Metropolitan Municipality, in KwaZulu-Natal.

The aim of the visit is to assess service delivery and governance in public institutions in the area.

During her visit, Minister Muthambi is also expected to launch uMnini Thusong Community Service Centre, a government initiative that forms part of the broader national presidential programme that seeks to provide a One-Stop shop facility for various local and provincial government services.

This week’s community outreach programme takes place at the backdrop of Africa month celebrations in May, under the theme: “The Year of OR Tambo: Building a Better Africa and a Better World”, whose aim seeks to create discussion platforms for South Africans, in particular local communities, to engage in conversation within the broader theme of decolonization.

Minister Muthambi is also expected to visit and interact with frontline public servants at service delivery points to determine the state of service delivery and working conditions in order to assist them to do their work better and in line with ethos of Batho Pele Principles. – SAnews.gov.za
