Minister Muthambi continues with back to school visits

Pretoria - Communications Minister Faith Muthambi is set to continue with her Back to School campaign tomorrow which is aimed at promoting the value of education in the remote areas of Vuwani, in Limpopo province.

On Thursday, Minister Muthambi will visit Tshipakoni Secondary School in Tshino, Khwara Secondary School in Ha-Mashau-Doli, Ramauba Secondary School in Ha-Masia and Mudinani Secondary School in Ha-Vhangani.

The Minister will also visit the Nesengani Traditional Council, Tsianda Traditional Council, Mashau and Masia Tribal Councils to mobilise their support in encouraging their respective communities to take a keen interest in their children’s education.

“We want parents and all community stakeholders to speak in one voice that in a democratic South Africa, everyone has the right to learn, while we expect our future leaders to make it known that it is their right to learn.

“We want parents, teachers and traditional leaders to understand that children are better off in school than working and that girls should also be educated,” she said.  

On Friday, the Minister will visit one of the best performing schools in the Vuwani area - the John Mutheiwana Secondary School in Tshimbupfe Ha-Mutheiwana.

In the past few academic years, the school has achieved more than a 98% matric pass rate.

Minister Muthambi will also visit Mugoidwa Secondary School in Tshivhulana, Ratshikwekwete High in the Tshitungulwane village and conclude her visit in the area with a courtesy visit to Tshimbupfe Traditional Council.

Less than a month into the new school year, Minister Muthambi will have visited a total of 40 schools in the Malamulele and Vuwani areas. - SAnews.gov.za
