Minister Muthambi to communicate successes of Government

Tuesday, May 27, 2014

Pretoria - Minister Faith Muthambi says she is looking forward to her new role as Communications Minister and is honoured to be serving the people of South Africa.

Minister Muthambi will lead the new Minstry of Communications that comprises the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (Icasa), the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC), Government Communication and Information System (GCIS), Brand SA and the Media Development and Diversity Agency (MDDA).

She was sworn in as minister on Monday evening during a ceremony in Pretoria. President Jacob Zuma had on Sunday announced his new Cabinet for the next five years.

Minister Muthambi brings a wealth of experience to the position from her time on the communications portfolio committee. She has been a Member of Parliament since 2009 until her ministerial appointment.

“I’m honoured and excited about my new role, but I’m mindful of the fact that there is a lot work to be done. I’ve got all the energy and zeal that is required to execute such a mammoth task,” she said.

One of her major priorities will be to communicate the good work that government is doing.

“My plans for the new department will be to ensure that government communicates the good work that it is doing. So, we will be there to showcase the work that is being done and how Government is touching the lives of ordinary people on the ground.” – SAnews.gov.za
