Pretoria - Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA) Minister Pravin Gordhan has condemned the deadly shooting of his protector, Constable Sello Machete, who was killed on Friday.
The COGTA Ministry on Monday said the unfortunate incident occurred at Stinkwater in Pretoria North, where Machete’s pistol was also stolen.
According to the department, Minister Gordhan said Machete’s death came as a shock as he was with him a few hours before his tragic killing.
“He was a diligent officer who was very disciplined and a hardworking member of the police service,” the department said.
Minister Gordhan also called for those responsible for the death of Machete to be brought to book.
He sent his condolences to Machete’s family and COGTA, as people who worked with him until his untimely death.
