Minister condemns shooting of two police officers

Police Minister Bheki Cele has strongly condemned the killing of two off-duty police officers in two separate incidents in the areas of Delft and Khayelitsha in the Western Cape on Friday.

Constable Lonwabo Kili, 30, was shot and killed in Delft and 37-year-old Constable Siyamcela Ncipa was shot and killed in Khayelitsha. Their firearms were taken during the two incidents.

A 72-hour action plan was issued by the Minister to ensure the perpetrators are brought to book for these cold killings and the recovery of the firearms.

“Minister Cele passes his deepest condolences to the Kili and Ncipa family and strongly condemns these senseless and cold killings of the police officers, the South African Police Service members are a national asset and they need to be protected by all of us including community members at all times,” said the police in a statement.
